Pep Guardiola has compared Manchester City's pursuit of Champions League success to the careers of sporting legends Jack Nicklaus and Michael Jordan. Guardiola urged patience ahead of City's quarter-final first leg against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, highlighting that even the greatest athletes have lost more often than they've won.

Bolasiar - The former Bayern manager says he doesn't expect a cautious approach from his former club, and that his side will need to compete at their best to win. Guardiola will come up against former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, who beat City in the 2021 Champions League final, but Guardiola remains focused on the task at hand.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has drawn parallels between his team's quest for Champions League glory and the careers of sporting legends Jack Nicklaus and Michael Jordan. Speaking ahead of his side's quarter-final clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday, Guardiola stressed the importance of patience and perseverance in the pursuit of success, pointing out that even the most accomplished athletes have lost more often than they've won.

Guardiola, who previously managed Bayern from 2013 to 2016, knows what it takes to win at the highest level, having won three consecutive Bundesliga titles with the German giants. However, he admits that the expectation at Bayern is always to go for the win, regardless of the venue or opposition.

Despite his past success, Guardiola remains focused on the task at hand, acknowledging that Tuesday's game will be a tough test against a strong opponent. He expects Bayern to come out swinging, but he's confident that his side can rise to the challenge and come out on top.

The City boss will also face off against former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who famously beat Guardiola's side in the 2021 Champions League final. Despite the disappointment of that loss, Guardiola says he's moved on and is solely focused on the task at hand, hoping to lead his team to their first-ever Champions League triumph.
